The Pod Bay Doors Movie Podcast | What’s Love Go To Do With It? (1993)

| July 9, 2023

Welcome back! This episode, Doug and Jerry pay tribute to the memory icon Tina Turner with the film about her life What’s Love Got To Do With It? Anchored by two stellar (unawarded) performances by Angela Bassett and Lawrence Fishburn, the film takes you through Tina’s life from a little girl in Nutbush TN singing more than the choir master would like through Ike and his horrifying abuse to her triumphant solo career that began in the early 1980s. It’s a brutal film, despite it being toned down for the MPAA, but it is invaluable as a record of this amazing woman’s life and struggles and equally invaluable as a Master’s class in acting.
